If you're experiencing issues scanning the QR code on your hiking deck of cards, follow these steps for quick resolution:
-
Ensure Google Maps is Installed: Make sure you have the Google Maps app installed on your mobile device. You can download it from your app store if needed.
-
Activate Location Sharing: Ensure that location sharing is turned on within the Google Maps app. This allows the app to access your current location accurately.
-
Open Google Maps App: Once the QR code is scanned successfully, Google Maps App should open automatically, displaying your current location on the map.
By following these steps, you should be able to seamlessly access the location information provided by the QR code on your hiking deck of cards. If you encounter any further issues, feel free to reach out for assistance.
Compatibility Note: iPhone vs. Android
While both iPhone and Android devices can access the location information from our hiking deck of cards, there are slight differences in the user experience:
-
iPhone Users: Following the instructions provided above should seamlessly open the map within the Google Maps app. If you find it does not, and instead opens in a Chrome Browser. It could be that your default browser is not set to Safari. To set your default browser to Safari just follow these steps.
-
-
Android Users: You may need to use an external QR code scanning app, as the default camera app may not always recognize QR codes. These external apps may open the routes in a browser page instead of directly within the Google Maps app. If you find the map opening in a browser page, you'll usually be given options to open it within the app.
Here is a way to bypass the browser page with just 3 clicks.
1. Click the tiny x to remove this overlaying message.
2. Click the small white cube. On some Android phones its a clear Google Map Icon.
3. Sign into your personal Google account. It will open the Google Maps App.
By being aware of these differences, you can ensure a smooth experience regardless of your device. If you encounter any challenges, don't hesitate to reach out for assistance.
